The Committee on Global Thought is thrilled to welcome four new faculty members from across Columbia University: Dani Friedrich, Professor of Curriculum at Teachers College; Azmat Khan, Patti Cadby Birch Assistant Professor of Journalism, at the Journalism School; Sandra Soo-Jin Lee, Professor of Medical Humanities and Ethics, CUIMC; and Anya Schiffrin, Senior Lecturer in Discipline of International and Public Affairs, SIPA. Their appointment is effective May 2026. The new members were nominated by current CGT members and approved by committee vote.
These four new members bring with them a broad range of expertise and approaches, and their contributions will further enrich CGT’s inter- and transdisciplinary work exploring the complex issues facing today’s world. We look forward to seeing what comes of our work together.
